Digital Dots published the reputable monthly newsletter Spindrift from 2003 until 2015. After that Spindrift was published online on a website of the same name from 2015 to 2020. Known for its objectivity, independence and occasional irreverence, Spindrift had an international readership and was wholly supported by Digital Dots and its subscribers. It carried no advertising and provided independent, knowledgeable commentary and analysis for people working in the graphic arts and associated industries.
The first twelve volumes of the Spindrift newsletter are available here to view and download. Unfortunately the articles published online from 2015 an onwards weren’t systematically saved as PDFs before the web site was shut down. In hindsight this was shortsighted, and the lesson is to archive completed articles as PDFs for the future. There is a reason for why the articles weren’t saved as PDF – the web layout didn’t transfer easily to nice looking pages as PDF. We should have tried harder, but now it’s too late for regrets.
